Dedicated to my long lost (but now found) friend - Manoj!

Hey old friend
Are you ok, old friend
What'll you say old friend
Are we or are we unique?
Time goes by everything else
keeps changing
You and I we get continued next week
Most friends fade or they don't make the grade
New ones are quickly made and
in a pinch, sure they'll do
but us old friend
what's to discuss old friend
Here's to us who's like us
Damn few!

I Enjoy Being a Girl!

Had a rather stressful party last Friday night for Louie's lola. I handled hosting duties (and admittedly, wasn't very good at it). Lots of missed cues. But like I keep saying to Louie's mom, overall, we had a terrific time seeing family we know, family we've never heard of, friends who care, and celebrities from the function next door.

Posting some shots of Louie and I. Not particularly proud of my hair (which made me look kinda heavy I think). Nor was I proud of those freakin' eyebrows (please blame the make-up artist). But still, I enjoyed the whole process of getting all purtied up.

Love you Babe!

Don't Be Afraid to Just Call Me...

I have had a most interesting day today downloading memories...

You see, I was trying to find cute tones for my phone that I wouldn't have to pay for since Nokia PC Suite comes with a ringtone converter. Anyway I wanted something interesting, especially since I noticed I had the same ringing tone (um, it was a basic RING RING) as my mother-in-law and someone in the salon. There's nothing wrong with it per se, but I can't tell who's phone is ringing and I end up scrambling for my phone only to find out that it wasn't my phone that was ringing!

It all started with me waiting for my flight to Hong Kong at the airport. I noticed someone had the ring tone for Harry Potter and I thought, "Wow, that sounds so pleasant!" I mean, even if the person never picked up the phone to answer it, I wouldnt mind listening to the ring tone.

So why was I downloading memories? Initially, it was just Harry Potter and the Home Alone theme (also a pleasant sounding one!). Then I thought, why not the Cheers theme? (I love it as well, its so homey). Then all these cool sitcom memories came flooding through... Growing Pains... Family Ties... Golden Girls... Full House...Perfect Strangers... Will and Grace... Everybody Loves Raymond. Gosh I loved the 80s sitcoms!!! (Picture Credit: http://www.tvhistory.tv/Emmerson-Old_TV-1998.JPG) Oh it was terrific hearing some of the old stuff! I was actually listening to the themes in the car!!!

So now I've got enough music to label quite a few people I know... let's see, for my good friends (Mirz, Charmaine, you know who you are) its the Golden Girls theme, for my family (except Rony because he's gay haha) its the Growing Pains theme, for Rony, Omar and the rest of the gay community its the Will and Grace theme or the Sex in the City theme, for Louie its the Family Ties theme. And for the rest of the world, its the Harry Potter theme. Ok, apparently, I'm taking this a little too seriously...but am so jazzed by it all.

Hey if anyone wants the files for any of those songs or whatever, let me know! Call me!!! Hahahahahaha...

Love is All Around Me

Let me say thank you to the people who responded to my last post. I'm not ordinarily that depressed, but sometimes, just sometimes, you need to admit it. It felt very human.

I love you guys...

I Wish... More than Anything

I am tired. Sometimes it is just so damn hard to stay optimistic. Is this what the fairy tales meant by "happily ever after"? Someone must have ripped out the chapters that came after that line...

Nobody panic or anything, am just tired, irked and in need of a good cry. (Watch me get a few calls on my cellphone...) Nah, seriously, life goes on. Sometimes, its just too overwhelming.

I won't elaborate. Sigh...

I'm Not that Girl

I have had at least two people indirectly tell me that it looks like I've gained a few pounds. Pleasant people they were (said with a sarcastic laugh). The thing is, they were both women -- and that's sad, because I've always thought it was an unspoken rule between women to keep silent about any weight changes.

Unless the weight change is a good one i.e. you've lost weight... you look fabulous dahling! You've gained weight.. you look terrific!

This rule doesn't apply of course to blood relatives (who notoriously will say anything that comes to mind, without any real consideration for your feelings - my Mom is a good example - she used to tell me how two of her thighs equal one of hers - how's that for tact.) In fact, Joy and I have a go at each other when the other's been eating too many pop tarts (Joy) or Fruit Roll-ups (Angel). It also doesn't apply to your best friend who you should no offense in if she tells you, you can stand to lose a few pounds. Because you've always gotta have someone who will brutally honest like that and know they're not secretly hoping you gain more. (Thanks Mirz!)

This weight thing has got me all worked up. I've been going to the gym, rather irregularly since February, so clearly the results haven't come in. But strangely, I've never really felt more comfortable with my overall appearance. I mean I asked Louie to be bluntly honestly, do I look like a fat pig? He says I don't, and truthfully, I don't think I do either.
Sure I can stand to lose a few pounds (and should definitely stay away from Coke given that its giving me gassy chest pain in the wee hours of the morning) - but dang, it's so annoying that people have to point it out to you.
Its not like when they were on the heavy side of the scale I was there going, keep off the fried chicken tubby! Sometimes I wish I could be that bitchy -- but darn it, if people want to eat, then who I am to say anything?!?

Now this is not that I won't listen at all when someone says you're overweight. I mean there are health reasons to consider. I'm just so friggin' annoyed that a few people have had the nerve to say something to me at a point in my life where I'm really just comfortable with the way I look.

Around this time last year, I was losing weight steadily due to stress that I don't care to remember. I also recall having no time to sleep and skipping alot of meals. It was not pretty -- and I would not go through that again to lose the ten pounds I lost back then.

I wonder what the best revenge is for those kinds of people? I thought maybe, hmmm, what if I lose weight and look utterly fabo? Will that do it? Nah, actually, then it just feeds the misconception that you always need to be thin. How about gaining weight to disprove it? Nope, I don't want to have to buy new clothes. How about just being utterly comfortable in your skin, regardless of what they say?

Hmmmm, I think that just might do the trick.

A Parting Thought...
